A while ago Jon T-bone Taylor got me a gig at the Chippenham at the end of my road. As none of my regular band was available I got together a four-piece including Jon and we did the gig. At the end of the evening the manager gave me a list of dates up until Christmas, one gig every five or six weeks. We’ve continued to do those and in fact have been given another three extra gigs as well, when other bands have pulled out at the last minute
We haven’t used the same line-up for each gig due to varying availability of the initial musicians. But we’ve managed to get a band together often at very short notice and the gig has gone down well. In fact last week’s gig was well attended and the band played the best gig there ever, so things are looking up for now after being down since the Inn on the Green gig ended.. However, for the forthcoming Blues Attic Revisited gig at the Mill Arts Centre in Banbury on the 8th of next month, the regular guys are back, though Al Vincent is on guitar in place of the late Bernie Pallo. It’s been a while since I gigged with Al so I’m looking forward to the gig.
The Notting Hill Carnival took place this weekend and Gigi and I went down both days to soak up the atmosphere. We also managed to soak up sufficient amounts of alcohol and I even managed to resist most of her attempts to get me dancing at the local pub in the evening. I think that today is going to be one of my rare non-alcoholic days and neither will I be dancing. Well somebody has got to make the effort…
