Mind they did follow three miserable days after my dumb argument with Gigi. Finally we agreed - [That Time Of Year](http://shakeyvick.com/2009/12/24/that-time-of-year/) - It's over a month since I wrote anything here so perhaps I should do some catching up. I suppose I'd be well advised to leave out the embarrassing bits, or at least most of them. I'll definitely leave out the juicy bits because in this season of goodwill, I shouldn't make you envious, so I - [Inn on the Green](http://shakeyvick.com/2010/01/07/inn-on-the-green-16/) - Chris Youlden & the Shakey Vick Band Inn on the Green, 3 Thorpe Close W10 5XL 8 p.m. Free - [Inn On The Green](http://shakeyvick.com/2009/11/23/inn-on-the-green-15/) - Chris Youlden & The Shakey Vick Band Inn On The Green, 3 Thorpe Close W10 5XL 8 pm. - [All quiet on the depression front](http://shakeyvick.com/2009/11/22/all-quiet-on-the-depression-front/) - On Halloween I gave up all pretence of being sensible and ended up wearing a mask and a cloak. Talk about entering into the spirit of things. It was all Gigi's fault - of course. We went to a friend in Pimlico, dressed sensibly at first. Naturally we stopped at a pub on the way - [The Oval Tavern](http://shakeyvick.com/2009/10/25/the-oval-tavern-5/) - Chris Youlden & The Shakey Vick Band The Oval Tavern, Oval Road, East Croydon, CR0 6BR Free - [Inn On The Green](http://shakeyvick.com/2009/10/23/inn-on-the-green-14/) - Chris Youlden and The Shakey Vick Band. If this sounds like I'm - [Let the good times roll](http://shakeyvick.com/2009/07/31/let-the-good-times-roll/) - The gig at the Inn, on the third Sunday in July, was cancelled at the last moment because of a break-in overnight. The police were there all day, so the club remained closed. I tried to warn the band to save them a journey, but wasn't too successful. I managed to get hold of the drummer - [Let's have a party](http://shakeyvick.com/2009/07/02/lets-have-a-party/) - I did a trio gig last Sunday with Alan Vincent and Tony Bell on guitars. Having persuaded Al to bring along his PA, I arrived to find that there was in fact a house PA . The playing area could be described as small but beautifully formed, but as it wasn't beautifully formed, just small, - [Up and Down](http://shakeyvick.com/2009/06/19/up-and-down/) - The Windsor Castle has been sold off to developers depite manager Tony's great effort to put it back on the music map. Chris Youlden was in better voice than ever, according to Graeme, the bar manager. I agreed with him as I've always thought that Chris was the best blues singer to come out of Britain. I know from the continuing emails I get from - [Video and us](http://shakeyvick.com/2009/04/03/video-and-us/) - One of Muddy Waters' sons, Mud Morganfield, gigged with Big Joe Louis and his Blues Kings up in Kilburn recently. I went along with Jon T-Bone Taylor and Gordon Smith and thoroughly enjoyed the evening. The guy really looked like Muddy though he didn't play guitar. There were visitors from Germany and Lithuania as well as locals. Chris Youlden was soon busy signing Savoy Brown records, showing the interest is still there. The gig was well received once again - [Chris Youlden and touring](http://shakeyvick.com/2009/01/31/chris-youlden-and-touring/) - It seems a long time since I wrote anything here, but the reality is that I wrote a long diary entry a week or so ago and promptly deleted it. There was solo - [Mighty Long Time](http://shakeyvick.com/2008/10/22/mighty-long-time/) - Had a reasonable gig at the Inn on the Green last time. His Blue Horizon albums are - [Are you sitting comfortably?](http://shakeyvick.com/2008/10/12/are-you-sitting-comfortably/) - On Monday I eventually found my way to the Blues Puppies launch in Wandsworth. I say eventually but it was via the Inn on The Green, for a quick visit and then Finch’s for another quick visit. Unfortunately a couple of miscreants came in and what was going to be a quick drink, turned into - [Blues Trek](http://shakeyvick.com/2008/10/06/blues-trek/) - On Wednesday evening I went to the Inn on the Green and, by chance, met a couple of friends from the Caernarvon Castle residency days. This coincided with the weekly blues jam which drew even more - [Birthday blues](http://shakeyvick.com/2008/09/29/birthday-blues/) - I made it to the blues jam at the Inn on the Green last Wednesday. Mr. Cool indeed! We duly left at half five, hardly time to digest breakfast, but you have to humour people - [Carnival nights](http://shakeyvick.com/2008/09/08/carnival-nights/) - The carnival is over once more and ended in the time-honoured fashion of bottle throwers and police in riot gear, but if this was supposed to be nostalgia for the old days, it wasn't, mainly because the kids throwing bottles were too young to have been at the original debacle way back when. Various states of hippydom graced the evening, but thankfully no outdoor free love or nudity caught my attention. Actually it was a cross-section of modern co-op living, with age, - [Sitting in...](http://shakeyvick.com/2008/08/15/sitting-in/) - Last week's gig at the Inn On The Green went well with a couple of guests sitting in. It got neither. It failed the MOT test in a big way. The cost of repairs would have been over £800 but as the car is no longer worth that much I decided - [Out and about](http://shakeyvick.com/2008/07/21/out-and-about/) - It's been a bit quiet on the gig front this month, or to put it another way, we've only had one gig. Unfortunately I've had to compensate by getting out more. Some people seem to have got the idea that what I mean by getting out is getting drunk. It doesn't necessarily follow. In fact - [Inn On The Green](http://shakeyvick.com/2008/07/04/inn-on-the-green/) - Chris Youlden & The Shakey Vick Band Inn On The Green, 3 Thorpe Close W10 5XL - [The games afoot!](http://shakeyvick.com/2008/07/04/the-games-afoot/) - Seems like I've had nothing to write about the last month or so. You decide for yourselves. So, back to the - [To Dither Or Not To Dither](http://shakeyvick.com/2008/06/13/to-dither-or-not-to-dither/) - The gig at the King's Head Theatre pub on Monday the 2nd of June was fortunately free of over-enthusiastic dancers. It started off normally enough but soon changed. Someone decided the band needed a dancer. So far so good. Unfortunately “far” wasn’t the operative word as the dancer seemed to think that sliding under my feet was going to impress me. It didn’t. Nor did dancing - [Open Mike](http://shakeyvick.com/2008/05/14/open-mike/) - Last Sunday’s gig at the Inn On The Green went well, with the return of Chris Youlden to the fold. Of course the usual hecklers opened up proceedings, but though they want to be part of the show, they still aren’t getting paid. After the gig, one or two of them seemed to think that - [Nights out](http://shakeyvick.com/2008/05/05/nights-out/) - Last Wednesday I went to the Muddy Waters memorial gig at the Oval in East Croydon. Other people who say that nostalgia’s not what it used to be, are - [Live at 100 Club](http://shakeyvick.com/2008/04/09/live-at-100-club/) - Yesterday I met Mel Wright, the Waydown drummer and original Shakey Vick Big-City Blues Band drummer to check out an old live recording which we did about 19 years ago at The 100 Club in Oxford Street. Actually I didn’t meet him directly. The meet time was 1p.m and at 12.50 I arrived at Thornton - [Chris Youlden Latest](http://shakeyvick.com/2008/04/04/chris-youlden-latest-2/) - I saw Chris yesterday and he is on the mend. There were a few more people there than for - [Chris Youlden](http://shakeyvick.com/2008/03/24/chris-youlden/) - I spoke to Chris a couple of days ago and he is progressing well. We’ll meet during the week. - [The Swinging Sixties.](http://shakeyvick.com/2008/03/20/the-swinging-sixties/) - Have spent the last couple of evenings seeing how the postwar generation celebrate their sixtieth birthdays. Later Jamie Rowan did a guest - [Gigging Around](http://shakeyvick.com/2008/03/17/gigging-around/) - Had another enjoyable visit to the Oval Tavern in Croydon yesterday.
